RevAlation 2018 in London
On November 15, I followed Alation‘s invitation to the Churchill War Rooms in the heart of London to celebrate the opening of their new London office.
If you don’t know Alation yet: They offer a collaborative data catalog, which also contains information from query logs to extract “tribal knowledge” from a data lake. I really like their approach, as it’s closely related to my research on the OCEAN project.
During the RevAlation event, Markus Schmidberger, Head of Data Technology at Scout24 AG, presented how Alation helped facilitate new opportunities through increased collaboration. Furthermore, Stephanie McReynolds talked about very interesting research from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management about the productivity impact of a data catalog. Be sure to read their research paper if you are involved with human-in-the-loop data analysis!
Alation even brought in Sir Winston to make the subsequent get-together everyone’s finest hour. But just see for yourself!
